Dressed as a skeleton, Karter Kulans, 9, front, looks through balloons decorated as inflatable pumpkins with a candy surprise inside, as brother Aleks Kulans, 11, searches for candy of his own while dressed as a prisoner at the home of Laurie and Tim Bachara on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020 in Oakwood Hills. The Bacharas placed candy inside balloons and placed them, along with lollipops, into the ground so children could have fun picking them out while being socially distant from one another. "It kinda bnroke my heart that the kids don't get to trick or treat like normal. I wanted to do something special," said Laurie of her candy-riddled lawn. Laurie added that her son J.C. asked her why she wanted to decorate her lawn this way and she responded to him saying "There's just a lot of unhappiness in the world right now. Anything I can do to put a smile on someone's face is worth the effort."
