A worker from Whitey's Towing hooks up one of the vehicles that slid off of Randall Rd. north of Huntley Rd. Monday. Northbound traffic was closed at Randall and Huntley roads and southbound traffic was closed at Randall Road and Corporate Parkway until salt trucks arrived. Officers described the roads as "sheets of ice."

Steam rises from the Fox River in Buffalo Park in Algonquin Friday. A wind chill advisory is in effect through 10 a.m. Friday with temperatures between 8 to 18 degrees below zero expected and wind chill values between 15 and 25 degrees below zero.
Temps are expected to creep back into the 20s Saturday before subzero weather hits the area again Sunday and Monday.
