Six horses are recovering at the Hooved Animal Humane Society after being rescued from an unlicensed animal rescue in North Carolina. Two mares, a filly, a 2-week-old colt, a yearling and a gelding arrived at the Woodstock-based rescue in early April, according to a new release. They were among more than 300 dogs, 250 cats and 40 horses that were discovered in January at a property known as The Haven, a Raeford facility that officials said had been operating without a license in violation of the North Carolina Animal Welfare Act for at least a decade.
