Meghan O'Brien of Huntley was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in September of 2012. Since then, alongside treatment, she has been volunteering and working to raise awareness of the stigmas attached to lung cancer patients. O'Brien, who has never smoked, has a genetic mutation called Anaplastic lymphoma kinase and now takes over 20 pills per day as part of her treatment. "I just take it one day at a time," said O'Brien. "It's a lot different than the normal 31-year-old's life. I miss working. I miss having energy to do a simple things like going grocery shopping."
