Judi Saenz of Crystal Lake repairs scratches on a violin Monday at Cassandra Strings in Algonquin. According to owner owner Cassandra Thuneman, the cold weather has caused an increase in repair business. "With the cold, everything is cracking," said Thuneman, "Strings are a living, breathing things. With the furnace on, it expands and if there's not enough moisture, it will crack." Another round of the record cold temps is expected to hit Tuesday with a high near 6, and wind chill values as low as -23.
