Anderson Animal Shelter, a South Elgin nonprofit dedicated to the compassionate and humane treatment of homeless service animals, is one of several organizations participating in Santa’s Village Azoosment Park’s Carousel for a Cause initiative. Painted by artist and art teacher Maryann Diazsandi of South Elgin, this carousel horse will be one of six on display at Santa’s Village Azoosment Park throughout the 2013 season and will then be given back to Anderson Animal Shelter to use as an auction item or for display. The Santa’s Village Azoosment Park Carousel for a Cause initiative was developed to commemorate the work of resident artist Dutch Akers of Crystal Lake who restored the Park’s carousel for the new season. As a part of the initiative, Santa’s Village Azoosment Park reached out to six different nonprofit organizations to design their own masterpiece for display at the Park. A Carousel for a Cause celebration will be held at the park on Thursday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
